Pre-Treatment Advice

If you experience COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive, please inform us by telephone or e-mail and do not visit the practice. If you have not tested positive for COVID-19 and feel unwell, nauseated or dizzy, please contact us to reschedule your appointment.

1. Hydrate

A few days before and after a massage treatment, it is important to prepare the body for the dehydrating effects a massage can cause. Drink plenty of water. The more hydrated the body, the easier it will be for your massage therapist to work with your skin.

Massage stimulates circulation and the removal of waste from the muscles. In order to facilitate the flushing and cleansing process, the body requires a substantial amount of water. Following a massage, the muscles may become more dehydrated due to a lack of hydration prior to receiving a massage. In such instances, you may feel residual soreness after a massage treatment.

2. Eat a light meal

Do not eat a large meal just before your arrival. Massage manipulates both the muscles and the organs. Receiving a massage on a full stomach can be uncomfortable. Eat a light snack or meal a few hours before your treatment, as manipulating your organs can have an effect on the digestive system.

3. Avoid caffeine, fizzy drinks and alcohol

A massage treatment boosts circulation and flushes the body of toxins, hence increasing your water intake is necessary. Caffeine, fizzy drinks and alcohol are stimulants which will hinder the healing process, affect your physical and mental state by inducing a sense of unrest and reduce the overall therapeutic benefits.

4. Do not sunbathe

Avoid direct sunlight and exposure to the sun in order to prevent sunburn. Sunburn can be very sensitive to touch and any friction may cause discomfort and damage to the skin.

5. Take a hot shower

Taking a hot shower will initiate the loosening of the muscles and relax the body, as well as cleansing the skin. Warm muscles are easier to massage and manipulate, hence dispersing any knots. It will also help your mind to relax in preparation for your massage.

6. Wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing

Wearing loose and comfortable clothing will allow you to dress and undress easily and avoid any friction on areas which may be tender after a massage. There will be a sheet covering you at every point during the massage to ensure your modesty. The massage therapist will uncover only the area which is being treated at any given time and any untreated areas will remain covered.

7. Arrive in good time

Arrive in good time before your scheduled appointment to allow ample time for a consultation and completion of any required documentation relating to your massage treatment (s). This is especially important if it is your first visit and treatment. Your massage therapist will advise you on how much time to allow at the time of booking your appointment.

8. Breathe deeply

Focus on your breathing, taking slow, deep and even breaths. Breathing deeply and calmly will keep your blood oxygenated. The circulation of the oxygen-rich blood through the muscles being massaged will also increase the feeling of well-being and relieve muscle tension and stress.

Your First Visit

Prior to commencing, we will conduct a comprehensive consultation regarding your health and lifestyle to ensure that the proposed treatment method is best suited to your needs. Please allow 20 to 30 minutes in addition to your treatment time. Massage treatments usually take place on a massage couch or in a specially designed massage chair with most treatments lasting between 30 to 60 minutes. If the treatment involves the therapist directly massaging the skin, a nourishing oil or cream-based product will typically be used to provide a seamless, free-flowing massage with towels carefully placed to ensure your modesty and comfort throughout the treatment.

Whichever type of massage you choose, we will advise you of what to expect before the treatment begins.

Ready for your next appointment ?

Why not make your relaxing massage a regular appointment? It is advised to receive a massage once a week for 4 to 6 weeks to initiate the healing process and then once a month in order to maintain the long-term benefits from the therapy.

We have introduced a subscription service to save you time, stress and money. If you enjoyed your first massage session, you could secure a monthly appointment and choose to have your selected treatment delivered in the comfort of your home or in our tranquil treatment room.

Please contact us to discuss subscription package options (treatments are one per person, per calendar month with a minimum subscription term of 3 months).

Standard Cancellation Policy

We value your business and politely request that if you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please provide a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to ensure that you will not be charged for the appointment. We will be pleased to re-schedule your appointment for the next available date.

Any cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a cancellation fee amounting to the cost of 50% of the scheduled treatment.

COVID-19 Cancellation Policy

If an appointment is cancelled or deferred at short notice due to experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or contracting COVID-19, any standard cancellation fees will be waived. Clients will be requested to kindly confirm in writing that their appointment has been cancelled or deferred due to contracting COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19.
